Each year, LRFA supports various organizations and events that reflect the interests of our members.
We provide donations, loans, and scholarships. By supporting these worthwhile causes, we are helping them to grow and succeed.
Below are just a few examples of our recent charitable giving.
Scholarships & Hope Chest
Each year, LRFA members can receive scholarships for their children's Latvian education and cultural instruction.
We support summer camps like Garezers (Michigan) and the
New York Latvian Church Camp "Nometne" in the Catskills.
Any LRFA member who has been enrolled as an active member for over 9 months is eligible to receive an LRFA "hope chest" monetary gift after the birth of a child.
Emergency Assistance Plan
The LRFA Emergency Assistance Plan provides monetary assistance to members in cases of natural disaster or other catastrophic events. Over the years,
we've helped people recover from hurricaines, ice storms, and other acts of nature. The damage can be devastating and LRFA is committed to helping our members.
Baltic Cultural Events
We support many Latvian Song Festivals and cultural events in the U.S. and Canada. Stop by our table at the next event!

Construction of Latvian Centers in the U.S.
In 2009, LRFA provided a loan to the Latvian Evangelical Lutheran Church in Washington, DC so that they could improve
access for the elderly and disabled. We provided additional funding to build a retirement home.

Relief Work in Latvia
We regularly donate to the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
We support the Latvian Freedom Fund (Latvijas Brivibas Fonds) for their projects in Latvia.

Support for Other Latvian Non-profit Organizations in the U.S.
We support the Latvian Chamber of Commerce in the Americas and other not-for-profit groups in the U.S.
We donate regularly to Latvian Broadcasting in Chicago. This is the only radio station in
America that broadcasts in the Latvian language.
